More Teaching?

Well it didn’t take me long. I’m not yet out of a job with JET and I think I’ve got myself another full-time teaching gig. It’s not definite yet but the two interviews I’ve had so far have been really positive and they’re even willing to work around my College of Law schedule (which surprised me).

Of course do I want to spend more time being an English teacher? I’m probably stuck here in Japan as it is for a little while at least. I want to do the College of Law course and even if I do it full-time it won’t wrap itself up until November. I could of course go back to Australia to do it but then what would I do for money? And Rui would still have to stay here to finish her course. So I stay here. Although that doesn’t answer the ‘What do I do for money?’ question.

Enter this new job. It’s working in an eikaiwa which I suppose in some ways is a step backward from JET. It’s certainly a bit of a pay cut but then compared to nothing which was what I was looking at earning it’s something. It’ll mean Rui and I have enough money for me to go back to Australia for the on site components of the College of Law course and for Rui to go in January to Adelaide for a jewellery conference.

It’s just… was this what I went to uni for?
